Ocean Beauty at MakeUp in LosAngeles 2025!
Ingredients/FormulationPackaging

In its 2025 editions, the MakeUp in Shows will promote the preservation of resources from the ocean, as well as its infinite source of innovation thanks to its ocean biodiversity while ensuring its regeneration. Our industry is filled with innovations that aim to preserve the environment, and we want to showcase those that provide a safe future for our oceans.
The concept of "Ocean Beauty," also referred to as "Blue Beauty," focuses on sustainability, particularly the preservation of marine ecosystems. Unlike the broader "Green Beauty" movement, which emphasizes general environmental responsibility, Blue Beauty specifically addresses how beauty products and their production impact the oceans.
It is a rising trend in the skincare and cosmetics industry. It focuses on sustainability, particularly the preservation of marine ecosystems. Unlike the broader "Green Beauty" movement, which emphasizes general environmental responsibility, Blue Beauty specifically addresses how beauty products and their production impact the oceans.
Key elements driving this trend include the use of marine-derived ingredients such as seaweed, microalgae, and other ocean botanicals. These ingredients are valued for their natural bioactive properties, including antioxidants, anti-inflammatory agents, and vitamins, which benefit skin health. For instance, microalgae like spirulina and other types offer benefits such as anti-aging, UV protection, and skin hydration. As biotechnology advances, these ingredients can now be cultivated sustainably in bioreactors, reducing the need to harvest directly from the ocean, thus protecting marine ecosystems.
The Blue Beauty trend also emphasizes eco-friendly packaging solutions, with a push towards recyclable, reusable, and even biodegradable options to minimize plastic waste. This is crucial given the significant pollution problem affecting marine environments, where millions of tons of plastic end up in the oceans each year. Brands are incorporating upcycled materials, such as recycled ocean plastics, to create packaging, addressing consumer demand for responsible products.
As consumer awareness grows, the appeal of authentic, sustainably sourced, and scientifically backed products increases. Companies are not just focusing on the efficacy of marine ingredients but also on their stories, ensuring transparency about sourcing and production practices to build trust with environmentally conscious consumers.
Overall, Ocean Beauty reflects a holistic approach that combines marine-inspired product innovation with sustainable practices, from ingredient sourcing to packaging, contributing to the broader movement of clean and ethical beauty.
